The promenade surrounding the exterior of The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park provides easy and accessible path to and around the venue.

During performances, this promenade must remain open and accessible for all pedestrian and authorized vehicle traffic (emergency traffic, venue operations, etc.). This promenade is also a FIRE LANE and EMERGENCY EXIT, and must remain clear at all times. In order to ensure the safety of our community and in compliance with Port Code 8.02 (b) (12) we ask visitors to recognize the following:

    • No standing or stopping is permitted
    • The rocks lining the promenade present dangerous conditions; no sitting or standing on the rocks
    • Stationary objects such as chairs and coolers are not permitted
    • Smoking, vaping, alcohol and glass containers are all prohibited
    • Unattended items will be removed

During concerts, we invite people to sit on any of the 34 benches along the exterior walkway, and to set up picnics, chairs, coolers or other items in the park area on Embarcadero Marina Park South, on the south side of the parking lot adjacent to the basketball courts, which also has picnic spaces, a gazebo, open lawn area, exercise equipment and other amenities. This park was recently renovated by the San Diego Symphony in conjunction with the Port of San Diego, and concerts from The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park may be heard and enjoyed from this space.

We also invite those wishing to experience free music to attend open rehearsals at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. A full listing of the open rehearsals can be viewed here. The calendar is updated regularly, so please check back often for the most up-to-date schedule of open rehearsals.
