Welcome to the Inaugural Season 2021 at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park! We are so excited for you to experience the San Diego Symphony's new outdoor venue and enjoy live music with friends, family...and the rest of your fellow San Diegans and visitors! We have put together an exciting season for you. Our subscription structure is different this year, so you will have the opportunity to enjoy an even greater variety of concerts that we've programmed through the beginning of November! Anyone who had subscribed to the cancelled Summer 2020 season, or who was a Summer 2019 subscriber, will retain priority in seating. But new subscribers are welcome and will enjoy all of the the beauty, unparalleled sound and breathtaking sight-lines this exceptional venue has to offer.

Note: there is no one subscription which allows you to see all of our 2021 offerings, so feel free to subscribe to as many packages as you like! (Seating may differ from package to package, however.) Also, you may exchange into any subscription concert (except the Opening Weekend package concerts), just let us know what you need in the comments section of your order. Finally, we encourage you to add one or more of our Special Concert offerings, which you will have priority access to before they are available for sale to the general public!

GALA INFORMATION

In addition to purchasing this Opening Weekend Package, you can be part of the Inaugural Gala, which will support the artistic and engagement programs of the Symphony as it launches a new era at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. The Gala evening will include the opening concert (in your package) conducted by Rafael Payare and the San Diego Symphony, with immersive sound and a light spectacular, and a cocktail reception at 5 pm, followed by a dinner curated by celebrity chef Richard Blais. Inaugural Gala and Concert tickets begin at $2,500 per person and include a donation to the San Diego Symphony.

This is the long awaited, triumphant opening night concert of The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park that you can't afford to miss! STEWART COPELAND: Police Deranged for Orchestra

Stewart Copeland’s Police Deranged for Orchestra is a high-energy orchestral celebration of legendary rock star, composer, and founder of The Police, Stewart Copeland. The concert features many of the band’s biggest hits, including “Roxanne,” “Don’t Stand So Close to Me,” “Message in a Bottle” and many more. With Copeland on drums, three singers, and a guitarist, Edwin Outwater leads the San Diego Symphony in this unique concert experience.

ROCKETMAN — In Concert

Directed by Dexter Fletcher and written by Lee Hall, the critically acclaimed film Rocketman charts the life and music of the legendary Elton John. See award-winning actor Taron Egerton take on the lead role, singing his way through Elton's success with hits such as “Your Song,” “Tiny Dancer,” “I'm Still Standing” and many more. Conductor John Beal leads the San Diego Symphony playing the score live!

Ella Fitzgerald and Frank Sinatra were two undisputed masters of "The Great American Songbook." During their storied careers, they appeared together several times on television and on stage. Great fans of one another's work, their mutual admiration transformed into pure magic when performing together. Sadly, they never realized a recording immortalizing their collaborative legacy. In celebration of one of John Kander and Fred Ebb’s most beloved musicals, Rob Fisher and Tom Thompson created this full-length concert adaptation featuring a five-member cast of seasoned Broadway performers and a fresh new orchestral arrangement created by Bill Elliot for a full symphony orchestra, including every song from the original score and interstitial spoken dialogue.

In the spectacular climactic sixth episode of the Star Wars saga, Darth Vader readies the second Death Star to unleash the final blow to the Rebel Alliance. Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) joins his droid allies R2-D2 and C-3PO, along with Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), to free his comrade Han Solo (Harrison Ford), imprisoned by the vile crime lord, Jabba the Hutt. Reunited, the Rebels race to the moon of the planet Endor where they launch a desperate attack upon the entire Imperial Fleet.

But the ultimate battle is between father and son, as Luke faces Darth Vader one last time, for the fate of the galaxy hangs in the balance.

OFRENDA: A Día de los Muertos Celebration

Ballet Folklórico de Los Ángeles and Mariachi Garibadi de Jaime Cuéllar team up in OFRENDA, celebrating one of Mexico’s most beloved holidays, Día de Los Muertos, in an unforgettable visual and musical experience. OFRENDA pays tribute to traditional music and dances from different regions including “La Bruja” from Veracruz, “Retablo Purépecha” from the state of Michoacán, as well as the amazing music from the Disney movie Coco, and homage to great Mexican artists, such as Juan Gabriel, Selena, Pedro Infante and José Alfredo Jiménez, whose music lives on.

LUCK BE A LADY: Ted Sperling Celebrates the Songs of Frank Loesser
